The Class of 1941 Observatory was completed in 1991 as a 50-year class gift to the Naval Academy. It houses a 19th century 8-inch f/12 Alvin Clark refractor. The refractor and mount were completely rebuilt for the new observatory in 1991. In 2022, the mount was replaced with a Paramount MEII German equatorial mount. I took the top photo below in 2021. I took the bottom photo in 1991. |
